Thermo Delta V Advantage (Green)

lab equipment - Thermo Delta V Advantage IRMS
  • Used for flash combustion analysis of organic matter from particulate matter on filters, plants, animals, and sediments. The instrument can easily be placed in concentration only mode using only the elemental analyzer if isotope analyses are not required. When interfaced with the Delta V Advantage via ConFloIV both N and C isotopes and concentrations can be obtained via continuous flow.
  • Cost per analysis for N and C isotopes and concentrations: $8.00
  • Cost per analysis for N and C concentrations only: $4.00

Picarro L2130i Cavity Ringdown Spectrometer (Green)

CRDS L2130i
  • Used for oxygen and deuterium isotopes in seawater and freshwater using a vaporizer and autosampler.
  • Sample time is ~60 min/sample where each sample is comprised of 7 2.5ul injections.
  • Precision is  0.03 per mil for oxygen and 0.1 per mil for deuterium.
  • Cost per analysis which includes both O and H/D isotopes: $10.00
  • Throughput is ~20 unknowns/day.

Picarro G2101i Cavity Ringdown Spectrometer (Green)

CRDS G2101i
  • Used for carbon isotopes and concentrations in solids and liquids (TDIC). The CRDS uses a Picarro Liaison interface connected to an AutoMateFX carousel system.
  • Sample time is ~10 min/sample where each sample is comprised of 500 to 1000ug of pure CaCO3 or 5ml of seawater with an average of 2mM concentration.
  • Precision is  0.1 per mil or better for carbon.
  • Cost per analysis for either solids or liquids C isotopes and/or concentrations: $8.00.
  • Throughput is ~32 unknowns/day.

Thermo Finnigan MAT 252 (Green)

Thermo Finnigan Mat equipment
  • Dual inlet instrument equipped with three peripherals for high precision analyses on carbonates, CO2, and water. This instrument is coupled to: Kiel III carbonate device, 24 port manifold, and H2O/CO2 equilibrator
  • Cost per analysis for O and C isotopes using the Kiel III: $10.00, 12 to 100ug sample, throughput 40 unknowns/day
  • Cost per analysis for O and C isotopes using the 24 port manifold: $8.00, throughput 48 unknowns/day
  • Cost per analysis for O and C isotopes using the H2O/CO2 equilibrator: $10.00, 1.5ml sample, throughput 20 unknowns/day

Thermo Scientific Delta Q IRMS (Mitchell)

Delta Q with peripherals
  • Continuous-flow instrument for analysis of carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen isotopes in organic and inorganic materials, including plant and animal tissues, soils, minerals, and waters.
  • Interfaced with three peripherals (EA, TC/EA, and Gasbench), allowing for analysis of C+N isotopes of inorganic and organic materials (EA), H+O isotopes of organic and inorganic materials (TC/EA), and analysis of C+O isotopes of carbonates, C isotopes of DIC in water, and O isotopes of water (Gasbench).
  • Cost per analysis for C and N isotopes using the EA: $8.00, throughput ~48 unknowns/day.
  • Cost per analysis for H and O isotopes using the TC/EA: $15.00, throughput ~25-35 unknowns/day.
  • Cost per analysis for C and/or isotopes using the Gasbench: $8.00, throughput ~50 unknowns/day.

ThermoFisher 253 Plus (Mitchell)

  • Dual inlet instrument for analysis of triple oxygen isotopes in silicates, carbonates, and oxide minerals.
  • Interfaced with a fluorination gas extraction line (BrF5) and equipped with two sample introduction systems (an infrared laser and a conduction furnace reaction manifold).
  • Precision is <0.2 per mil for oxygen-17.
  • Cost per analysis: $65.00.
  • Throughput is ~6 unknowns/day.

Future: Coming in 2025 (Mitchell)
